Research topics

The research activities are located at the interface between engineering and natural sciences. At the Chair of Technical Thermodynamics and Energy Efficient Material Treatment, research in the field of experimental and theoretical thermodynamics is closely linked to the development of new sustainable materials, processes and products.

The main research areas are in the following fields:

  • Thermodynamics of Processes,
  • Thermodynamics of Materials,
  • Thermodynamics of Multicomponent Systems,
  • Statistical Thermodynamics.

Current working fields are:

  • Development of intensified processes for an efficient, resource-saving circular economy of material systems based on experimental and theoretical thermodynamics,
  • Thermodynamic modelling of the properties of complex material systems, in particular of polymers,
  • Phase transitions and kinetic phenomena in materials.
