Computer Lab Focused on CFD and Machine Learning

The computer lab provides the research infrastructure needed to support the IEVB’s computer-aided research priorities. In this lab, new mathematical modeling and simulation techniques, as well as general simulation methods, are developed and investigated in combination with data reduction and data modeling using AI approaches. The focus is particularly on cross-scale modeling and simulation.

Examples include:

  • Development and optimization of new high-temperature processes based on CFD,
  • Computer-aided materials thermodynamics and process thermodynamics,
  • machine learning-based modeling of thermal energy systems, taking complex heat transfer processes into account.

The simulations and modeling are performed

  • on powerful high-performance computers and workstations at the IEVB,
  • at the North German Network for High- and Extreme-Performance Computing (HLRN),
  • and at the Center for Simulation Science (SWZ) at Clausthal University of Technology.
