Welcome to the Institute for Energy Process Engineering and Fuel Technology (IEVB)
We combine the scientific disciplines of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and reactive flow to develop physics-based experimental and numerical methods that enable us, together with our partners, to design new sustainable products and processes within the context of the circular economy. We place a special focus on cross-scale modeling and simulation of energy and mass transformations at the process level, taking into account information at the molecular scale. The new models and simulations are validated through experiments. The sustainability and recyclability of new energy technologies are evaluated throughout the development process.
The institute’s interdisciplinary research character is reflected in its teaching, with the goal of preparing the energy, chemical, environmental, and mechanical engineers of the future as effectively as possible for the development and adaptation of new sustainable technologies.
We fully cover this comprehensive field of research and teaching through our three chairs: Technical Thermodynamics and Energy-Efficient Material Processing, Sustainable Thermal Energy Supply, and Circular Economy Systems.
