Process Engineering with a Focus on Energy Process Engineering

The IEVB offers a comprehensive research infrastructure for the development of equipment and processes in energy process engineering. The focus is on combustion for the generation of high-temperature heat, as well as pyrolysis for material conversion at high temperatures. This is complemented by the investigation of mechanisms of single- and multiphase convective heat transfer, with applications in industrial heat recovery and heat pump technology. The goal is to establish a sustainable thermal energy supply across a wide temperature range.

The following are used for this purpose:

  • Swirl-flow reactors for the development of new burner systems, flame investigations, and slagging processes,
  • New temperature measurement techniques and in-line gas analysis
