Project Description:
H2-Wegweiser stands for the project “Energy System Analysis for the Technical, Economic, and Societal Integration, Storage, and Conversion of Hydrogen in Lower Saxony.” This Lower Saxony “Innovation Lab for Hydrogen Technologies” uses an interdisciplinary approach to investigate how a hydrogen-based energy system of the future can be concretely designed in Lower Saxony, which technical options are advantageous, and what impact legal, environmental, and economic factors have. The result is a comprehensive and holistic methodology for designing and evaluating combinable storage, transport, conversion, and utilization processes, which can be used to flesh out Lower Saxony’s hydrogen implementation strategy. The results serve, on the one hand, to develop and evaluate specific hydrogen projects and, on the other hand, to estimate the overall economic potential.
In our subproject on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), we examine the potential environmental impacts of Power-to-X value chains using life cycle assessment.
